Civic Museum Paleontology and Palaeo-ethonology “Decio de Lorentiis”. Granary door.
Wood. Dogon art. 19th – 20th century
Small rectangular granary door, consisting of two panels joined with iron braces, carved with thin and elongated figures, on two registers which refer to the complex ancestral mythology of the Dogon Ethnos. The square plan granaries with a thatched roof are characteristic presences of the settlements of these people, who are now becoming extinct, confined between the rock plateau and the Bandjagara plain in Mali.
