Civic Museum of Palaeontology and Palaeo-ethonology “Decio de Lorentiis”. Panel with
decorated walls, fragments. Pottery mix. Ancient Neolithic.
Slightly convex wall with vertical narrow ribbon-like handle, completely decorated with deep sub-triangular impressions with brief lateral transport of the clay.
Wall at the bottom of the plate non distinct, decorated with two thin horizontal distanced bands each one formed of two rows of sub-triangular wheel perforations. A restoration hole which is not a through hole remains near the joining point to the base.
Wall decorated with deep sub-triangular impressions with oriented vertex.
Wall decorated with shallow “cardium” impressions.
The most ancient phase of the Neolithic is characterised by the facies of impressed pottery. This decoration obtained with various instruments, including knuckles and nails, was made on the surface of the still soft vase, before drying and firing.
Towards the end of this archaeological horizon the first attempts of this decoration in organised spaces can be noted, like the bottom of the vase, the back area, the neck and the attachments of the handles.
