Civic Museum of Palaeontology and Palaeo-ethonology “Decio de Lorentiis”. Scrapers.
Limestone. Middle Palaeolithic.
Convex converging scrapers, with a superelevated deep direct lateral touch. In the deposit of Cattìe, in the countryside near Maglie, 12,000 stone instruments, mainly consisting of scrapers were found. Amongst these, there are numerous straight simple lateral scrapers with a thick minute retouch, sometimes partial, there follow simple lateral convex scrapers with an overlapping retouch, sometimes invading. The bilateral scrapers are also relatively well represented with a minute retouch, along with converging scrapers with a deep superelevated retouch and other flat and naviculated scrapers.
