Neanderthal man, cranium, plaster castUp one level |
Civic Museum Paleontology and Palaeo-ethonology “Decio de Lorentiis”. Neanderthal
man, cranium, plaster cast. Middle Palaeolithic period. 120-40,000 years.
Plaster cast of the Neanderthal cranium found in Guattari cave, on Monte Circeo, in 1939 by A.C. Blanc. It belongs to an advanced adult male individual, between 40 and 50 years old. Analytical, morphometric and radiologic examinations have revealed some rather evolved features which lead us to date this exhibit to the last glacial period.
